The Old Fountain is just two miles from the sea, and seven miles from the popular seaside town of Weymouth.
To walk through time on the Jurassic Coast The Southwest Coastal Path is very close by, there are also many short walks within the area.
The timeless village of Abbotsbury is just two miles away, where there is the world famous Swannery and Sub-Tropical Gardens.
There is a public house, The Kings Arms in the village where evening meals can be obtained, there are many more country pubs within a five mile radius.
Portesham itself is a village mainly built of local stone, quarried above the village, it has a population of about 500 people. There is a spring pouring from the hillside at the top of the village, opposite our home, where it forms the village pond, which is the home of many ducks and four geese. From the pond the spring runs down through the village eventually arriving at the 'Fleet' lagoon at Abbotsbury Swannery.
The church in Portesham is well worth a visit being at least 1,000 years old. There is also a Methodist Chapel in the village.
The harbour of West Bay is nine miles from here in the westerly direction, as is the delightful small market town of Bridport.
The owner, Ann, is a Blue Badge Tourist Guide she will be able to help you decide how get the most out of your visit to beautiful Dorset.
